If you receive this error, this means that you have a secondary account present in the server that you are trying to access.
There are servers that enable anti-alt measures to prevent spam and annoying users in the servers.
Known Causes
- Relatives on your home network in the same server
- Verifying on someone else's network (friends’ / workplace / public WiFi is not recommended)
- Old Account Deactivation / Deletion
- Verifying on the same device but on a different network
- Personal alternate account
- Intentional Bot Netting
With effect from 1 January 2022,
users with alt account issues will no longer be allowed to change their personal details / allowed to re-verify.
As an authentication provider, we do not wish to interfere in server related matters including modifying the user base which can lead to platform distrust and privacy issues.
We respect the server's motives for keeping their server a clean, safe and fair environment for other users to interact in if the anti-alt setting is enabled.
You can still open a ticket with us on this error and we will investigate if there is any linkage, and we will offer a resolution if possible.
If you do encounter this error upon joining a server, please contact the server's moderation team explaining to them your situation. The decision made to allow you into the server is completely discretionary of the server's moderation staff member(s).
